And he said it way nicer than I even know how… so here’s a cool way you can make your class a little less old-school without scaring everyone away. ⠀ Good shit, Nam. ・・・ #Repost yoganam ・・・ This week, I’ve been having my students do their binds in this fashion instead of the traditional clasping of hands or holding onto wrists. A traditional bind is a good way of leveraging you into a shoulder stretch, but changing things up occasionally and simply pressing fingertips together gets you to develop more strength and stability. This variation gets you to strengthen the back body and rotator cuff muscles instead of potentially stressing them. Opens the front body and reinforces functional active range of motion. ________________________________ ⠀ Steeple the fingers, reach them actively towards the back foot, work on drawing the head of the arm bones towards the back body, and lengthen your sternum towards the front of the mat. If you have limited mobility in your shoulders (like I do), then for this variation, skip the strap and press fingers into whatever part of the body you can reach for back there. ⠀ Try this in #parsvakonasana, #shalambasana #locust, #tadasana or wherever you can find a #bind ⠀ ________________________________ ⠀ Shout out to ryanorrico for the inspiration! ________________________________

Parivritta Janu Sirsasana, or Revolved Head to Knee pose, for day 6 of #EndOfSummerTwist. This is a delicious twist and I’m certain it would be good to do every day. I allowed the arm to be in front of my face and will not do that again. I didn’t even realize it until I saw the photo. I’m sick & HELLA moody. Like, hey you tears. You were just her five minutes ago... what’s up? Lol UBER sensitive and trying to explain that I’m not being irrational with tears in your eyes is hard.
