The SOTS Rooting drill. . Here’s a different variation for the upper body (and full body) to improve and maintain mobility, stability and strength. . I’ve been experimenting with this and it been working really well. . ✅Note: Obviously, you must be able to get into the bottom of the squat to do this. With that said, this also improves the bottom position, as well. . ✅*Use a light kettlebell for this movement primer. . 1️⃣Clean the Bell into the rack position 2️⃣Get intro the bottom of the squat 3️⃣GRAB the heavy kettlebell on the floor (that you have already placed in front of you) and pull yourself down more into position 4️⃣Press the bell (this is the SOTS Press) . Doing this variation allows you to “pull down” into the squat and get into a nice strong, stable position. Perform only 3-5 reps each side. . You can feel the difference by “creating a wedge” - between your feet rooting into the ground and grabbing the bell and pulling yourself down. . With some experimenting, I’ve really found some unique benefits in this to maintain and potentially improve mobility and stability in the position (I do this specifically to enhance weightlifting movements). . 2018 Australian Open - Done! - To be honest, I wasn't really interested in my own lifting this competition. I was surrounded by so many other like minded people, phenomenal athletes and all round nice people that my lifting really was the last thing on my mind - which is a big statement for me, I know. - I went 3/6 - 123/145 @ 98kg (123 Snatch shown) - Comparitive to my last comp, my increase in leg strength, as targetted, has made itself visible. My ability to hold off of the floor has improved along with a decent increase in bar speed. Also incredibly happy with my third pull in the snatch, I think I might just be a speedy lifter later in my life. 😏☇ - I didn't get my 150 C&J, but I did stand with 150, twice and back to back, with little issue. Given that I've only ever stood up with 150 twice in my life, to do it twice in one comp means a lot to me and is a good sign. - Once more, the best part of the experience was simply meeting so many other people and being amongst the ( #humidaf ) atmosphere of the competition. It was amazing. - Massive thanks cougarsweightliftingclub and awfcomau for hosting such a great competition.
