🌱10 relaxation techniques 🌱 . 1. Meditate - learning to quiet the mind helps reduce negative thoughts and brain fog especially after a hard day at work. . 2. Breathe- focus on deep breathing from the diaphragm. Deep breathing helps slow down heart rate, lowering blood pressure. . 3. Focus on now - focus on being fully present in the moment. When you spend time in the moment and focus on your senses, you should feel less tense. . 4. Talk- share how you are feeling, talking helps relieve stress. A problem shared is a problem halved. . 5. Be in tune - Mentally scan your body to get a sense of how stress affects it each day. Start at your toes and work your way up to your scalp, noticing how your body feels, be aware of places you feel tight or loose. Pay close attention to sensations you feel in each body part. . 6. Decompress - Place a warm heat wrap around your neck and shoulders for 10 minutes. Close your eyes and relax your face, neck, upper chest, and back muscles. You may also benefit from trigger point release by using a small ball i.e. tennis ball or foam roller to massage away tension. . 7. Laugh - A good belly laugh doesn’t just lighten the load mentally. It lowers cortisol, your body’s stress hormone, and boosts brain chemicals called endorphins, which help your mood. Watch your your favorite comedy or video, or chat with someone who makes you smile. . 8. Listen to music - listening to soothing music can lower blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety. You also can blow off steam by rocking out to more upbeat tunes -- or singing at the top of your lungs! . 9. Exercise- All forms of exercise, including yoga and walking, can ease depression and anxiety by helping the brain release feel-good chemicals and by giving your body a chance to practice dealing with stress. You can go for a quick walk around the block, take the stairs up and down a few flights, or do some stretching exercises like head rolls and shouldershrugs. . 10. PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD! 📈 One of the most important factors while training to ensure you continue to make consistent progress is to make sure that with each session you have some form of progressive overload! Progressive overload is the best gauge ensure progress never comes to a halt! But what does that progressive overload really mean.. progressive overload can be gauged in many different ways, some of which are listed below. ♦️The most common form of overload is to add weight! By adding weight each week you are overloading the muscle from what its used to! This doesn't have to be a significant amount as any weight higher then the previous session means you are improving! ♦️Shortening your rest periods! This is a form of overload as you are doing more volume in a shorter period of time which results in overload! ♦️Increasing the amount of reps with the same amount of weight! By adding more reps you are adding more time under tension leading to overload. ♦️Increasing the amount of sets! By increasing sets you are also increasing the total amount of volume and workload resulting in overload! ♦️increase the amount of times per week you train that muscle! By increasing the the amount of times you train that muscle group per week it will result in more volume again leading to overload! And lastly, KEEP A LOG BOOK! 📚 The most important key to progressive overload as it will allow you to log your main lifts which will be a visual aid to help you remember what you have achieved in your previous session and what you have to do to break past that in your current session!
