We try to make our lunches heathy and fun ❤ ham and veggie roll up (8g carbs in the bread used!), apples, carrots, and a #littlehugs juice barrel (2 carbs). This is literally Vinny's favorite! #t1d #type1diabetes #greatlunch #hessoperfect

#Meememonday #Repost jdrfhq ( get_repost) ・・・ A very happy birthday to JDRF advocate chefanneburrell! Thank you for your tireless work advocating for type 1 #diabetes awareness. Anne is a renowned chef, author, restaurateur and television host of the Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America,”. She has demonstrated her passion and dedication to #T1D advocacy, leveraging her role on the Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef and Chopped All-Stars Tournament to raise awareness and funding for research. When Anne competed in the 2012 Food Network’s All-star Family Cook off, she donated her $10,000 winnings to JDRF's life-changing T1D research. On Season 4 of Chopped All Stars she again took the top spot, donating her $75,000 winnings to JDRF, as well! Thanks so much for your advocacy and leadership, Anne!

YOGA FOR DIABETES Rachel Zinman ( rachelyogi), the author of Yoga For Diabetes, has created this great yoga practice for our Healthy With Diabetes Challenge. You can do it anywhere – at home, in your office, etc. The only thing you need is a wall. She also shares her story and explains how yoga can help people living with diabetes. You guys...honesty hour: I've never tried glucose tabs! I've always been a juice box kinda gal🤷🏻‍♀️ But given all the running around I do with grad school and a research position, my juice boxes are getting smushed under my books and things. Yeah, it's nasty 🙄😣 Soooooo help a sista out! What are your favorite flavors? Where should I order them from?

Taking some time off for yourself is not lazy/the easy way out. In many ways, it can be very difficult, especially if you tend to expect a lot from yourself — Today, I finally did it: I dropped a class I was taking because I've been feeling so overwhelmed by my diabetes and just overall been anxious/panicky about everything, tired, and unable to focus, so I felt like I needed some time to put my health first🙏🏽 I'm still a full time student but taking the minimum amount of credits ....part of me feels stupid/guilty/lazy for having to lessen my workload/take less classes than the majority of people, but I know that it's what I had to do: to have a few extra hours a week to really focus on my mental and physical health, which will also help me do well academically. And no, this doesn't mean that diabetes is a hindrance in any way! Type 1 Diabetes is an inconvenience but it doesn't stop you from being able to do anything if it's under control... BUT if it does feel suffocating, overwhelming, anxiety/panic inducing, then it's important to acknowledge that, and give yourself time to process and heal 🌻💕 There's no shame in admitting that you feel burnt out🙏🏽🌺 it's hard not to when you're dealing with an invisible, chronic illness🤔 It might not seem like a big deal to have dropped one class, and I will be taking a summer class to make up for it so it's all okay, but it really wasn't an easy decision to make — to actually allow myself to prioritize my health, and to reach out to my academic advisor about — but I'm glad I made it ✨ (and also that I go to a university that is so understanding and vocal about the importance of wellbeing 🌈🙌🏽) #mentalhealth #type1diabetes #vegan

The face of pure exhaustion. I haven't been very active on here the past couple days bc my blood sugars have been unusually high and it's really taking a toll. I've been waiting for a new delivery of novolog pens because my endo nurse thinks my supply went bad. This experience just makes me want to go back on the pump (I switched back to injections when I first went away for college). And now I'm curious for those of you pumpers/podders, which do you prefer? Do you find the pump or omnipod more reliable?

Difficult to put weight on my foot- decided to row 10,000 meters. Average HR got up there. Burned some sugars too with lower intensity, longer duration. This foot surgery has been #GOOD - I would not have rowed otherwise. // #getafterit #t1d #type1diabetes #diabadass #insulinpump #cgm #insulin #exercise #bloodsugar #medtronic #iworkout #suunto #gshock #burningsugars #killingdiabetes #diabetes #crossfitoctave
