I was good at a lot of things but Squat cleans were my worst 😫 I never took the time to believe I could get stronger..I just trained harder to get better at everything else.. Because I absolutely cannot stand when fitness models offer their 2 cents on scientific topics without providing any information to support their claims, I will be more dedicated to bring you accurate, non biased science to help you improve 🤗 In a meta-analysis, one conclusive summary of many studies, Krieger et al concluded that performing 2-3 and 4-6 sets produced more hypertrophy and strength than just doing 1 set. The 4-6 set range increased hypertrophy significantly more than the 2-3 set range but did not significantly increase strength compared to the 2-3 set range. Therefore if you're training for hypertrophy, I'd recommend doing at least 2-3 sets and to increase the gains even more do 4-6 sets. If you're training for strength however, you'll be just fine doing 2-3 sets for optimal strength increases! Please note all individuals do vary but this study analyzed all major muscle groups, utilized a wide age range (19-45), incorporated both genders, and collected data from trained and untrained subjects!
