Tips to ensure you get the most results from this movement is to lock your shoulders down and activate your core before you even begin this movement. Activating your core during this movement will create an incredible burn, will help to isolate each section of your rectus abdominis and help to diminish the swinging motion you often see people doing during this movement. Locking your shoulders down endures you do not overcompensate with other accessory muscles.You will notice I pause before completing my last repetitions to re activate my core. It can be hard to maintain with the burn. First video is a static hold with medium tension theraband with emphasis on anterior/posterior slings as well as stability with hips/trunk..her main focus is keeping rectus abdominal drawn in allowing transverse abdominals to activate assisting in spine stabilization as well as in assisting to lift diaphragm activating intercostal to keep rib cage spread activating serratus anterior to stabilize scapula creating a tall trunk for more stability while running as well as allowing more efficient breathing!! This will get your abs burning! The squeezing of the ball between your legs whilst keeping your shoulders on the floor will help develop your core muscles ABS SERIES : RECTUS ABS (also works obliques & core)EXERCISE : DUMBBELL THORACIC TWISTTECHNIQUE :1) Start by getting a suitable weight dumbbell and medicine ball. Lying on a mat, place the medicine ball between your knees and squeeze to hold it in place in a tuck like position. Lie back and hold the dumbbell up with your left hand keeping your shoulders on the floor at all times. Extend your right hand out to the side for stability 1️⃣.2) Brace your abs and keeping your head and dumbbell up with a straight arm and shoulders on the floor, twist your torso over to the side by moving your knees to the right 2️⃣.3) Slowly return to the start position under control 1️⃣. Then switch sides. 4) Complete desired number of reps, ideally 10/12 each side. Complete as many sets as desired, ideally 3. NB: Breathe out during the work phase and in during the return phase.
