#motivationmonday - Quadruped Gluteal Burn Add this to your gluteal routine! Tie a strong resistive band tightly above your knees. Hydrant your leg out to the side and slightly back and hold for one minute. Next, add these two elements - pulse the hydrant leg up and back for 30 seconds, then keep it up and rotate the hydrant leg into external and internal rotation for another 30 seconds. Switch sides and enjoy the burn! Add this to the other gluteal exercises I’ve been sharing, and you’ll soon have a strong derrière! Try and tell me what you think! Lay on the floor, with knees bent and feet under knees. Place one foot on a paper plate, or similar object that will allow sliding. As you inhale, start to slide your foot out, not straightening leg completely. On exhale, draw navel towards spine and slide foot back to starting position. You can place hands on the belly to ensure you are drawing down and knitting together. Switch sides. Start with a 10x each side and 2x/day. Work up to 20x each leg. Do not overly arch low back or overly press low back into floor. Something about Anjaneyasana makes me feel strong yet vulnerable. Also called crescent pose, this deep lunge is a hip opener and heart opener (quad and illiopsoas stretch with spinal extension). Not just great for flexibility and mobility but also a challenge for balance and strength. This pose was named after the Anjana the mother of the Hindu god Hanuman. She reaches her arms to the sky and the sun while praying for the miracle of a child. Working in pediatrics the last week or so, its so much easier to appreciate the miracle that is our everyday life. Whether it is observing the parking lot or the battery operated toy that sings: everything is taken in with a sense of amazement and wonder. Our bodies are hard-wired for growth and development from birth... but often in adulthood we find our selves stagnant and stuck in routines. Trying to bring some child-like wonder wherever I go 🤗

📍SELF TRIGGER POINT RELEASE or self Myofascial release••••• Suffering from “knots” 💥 between your shoulder blades❓say no more..here👆🏼 is a self release technique you can do, all you need is a tennis ball🎾 . Place the tennis ball between your back on the painful spot and the wall, lean into the wall (you’ll feel a discomfort but it will subside)hold this and count to 10 slowly... after this perform the following movements (also very slowly). 1️⃣.elevation/ depression: shrug shoulder and bring it down 5 times. 2️⃣.protraction/ retraction: reach forward and then squeeze your shoulder blade back w/out bending the elbow (also 5 times). This should dissolve the trigger point or relax the muscle. With the nice weather I was outside all weekend but when the weather gets rough I’ve been using classpass. Classpass allows people to purchase credits and spend those credits on the local gyms of your choice. Never was gonna be the person to post "workout videos", but I'm damn proud. It's been 32 days since tearing my ACL AND Meniscus. I have less than 72 hours before surgery and I am moving like a champ. An hour of legs with my physical therapist this morning and and hour on my own tonight at #onelifekc Granted I don't keep weights at home, but I've been doing weighted single legged RDLs, working on neuromuscular recruitment.
