Holistic Healing with Lexxie: Shop Local. 🍇🍉🍌🥑🍑🍒 For me, this is my local grocery store. My boyfriend secretly took this photo of me while hanging out across the street as I try and snatch a pineaple for breakfast.🍍🤗 The store is run by a farmer who organically grows fruit and veggies for the town and his family sells them at this shop. • Here are some words on why you should buy locally grown: 1. Food that isnt locally grown is shipped thousands of miles just to get in your mouth. Kinda weird! I mean, it says its grown organically but then you have no clue in what the food came across in order to get in your hands... I think its healthier, and its a huge carbon footprint that could be avoided by shopping locally grown. • 2. Shopping at your local farmers market or grocery shop allows you to be more involved in your community - and even possibly get to know who the people are that grow your food! • 3. It helps you understand whats in season and not in season. • 4. For meat eaters, buying locally is better because then your produce is less likely to come across unknown hormones, more likely to be preservative free and less chance of bacteria exposure. • 5. Foods produced by large scale operations are usually sprayed with pesticides to make sure theyre food stays visually appealing because it has to travel so far, where as local farmers are more likely to use organic/natural pest repellent becsuse they're crop doesnt require long transportation time. • 6. When you shop local, it improves the farms and allows them to keep running and keep you healthy! Thats why "support local" is so important. Kick out the big bad guys and love your small local companies. Also, by shopping local you are keeping money in your community, and creates jobs. • 7. Local farm operations can typically contribute more to the economy in tax revenue than they will ever use in services. Do you think it's possible to have an addiction to brussel sprouts??? 🤔😋 When fall hit, I discovered roasting brussel sprouts with sugar-free bacon, onions, and shallots taste the best! Now my favorite breakfast is reheating brussel sprouts (that I had made earlier in the week) with two fried eggs on top.
