One of my most prized possessions is my grandma Darr's recipe cards ❤️. She was a lady who looooved to bake and according to my dad, her banana cake was out of this world and was always his favorite. 🌼 Last year I found her banana cake recipe tucked away in the cards so of course I had to make it! I made it for my dad's 77th birthday! Yesterday in my story, I talked about my food freedom. - Yesterday morning, nothing in that bakery case was worth it to me so I simply said no thank you. I didn't feel deprived or upset because I made a deliberate and conscious decision 🍪 - Today, I met a friend for lunch at tendergreens and saw this yummy little cupcake as I was getting my salad. I thought about it and even waited until after I had finished my meal. - I decided that today that carrot cake cupcake was worth it. So I went back in and got it and then cut the bottom half and flipped it on top because everyone knows that making a #cupcakesandwich is the only civil way to enjoy a cupcake. 💁🏼🍰 - I savored every bite and it was so, so worth it. Have had a stinking headache all day today - Annoyingly I had to cancel my PT session (would never do that unless I felt I really couldn’t make it - listen to your body!) and after having a sleep have made it into the lounge for a little TV & food. I had a bowl of Covent Gdn Asian Souper Greens with some crackers, tasty but not very photogenic 🙈🍵 followed by these gems I picked up in wholefoodsuk yesterday.. really hit that comfort spot whilst keeping on track. Hopefully back to normality tomorrow!! (PS I wish we had a #WholeFoods nearer to us! Open more in the UK please! 😂)

What’s for lunch? Another mega-tasty, mega-random mashup for the win today! 💪🏼💪🏼 . In a cast iron skillet, I heated up some ghee, then tossed in chopped onion, garlic, a bag of (previously frozen) mixed root veggies (sweet potato, beet, carrot, parsnip), a little turmeric, some leftover #glutenfree quinoa noodles, and a couple #pastured vitalfarms eggs! Breakfast was nutrient dense and full of goodness this morning. Kale salad with avocado-acv dressing, scrambled local eggs and mixed veggie hash. It makes me cringe to see people tailoring their eating wholly to the number of macronutrients they are getting. There is a heavy emphasis on protein and very little on carbohydrate consumption. Carbohydrates are FULL of necessary and beneficial micronutrients and cannot be overlooked. For people heavily training hey are important simply as macronutrients as well.
