One of the things we all loved about Rorotua was learning about Maori culture at tamakimaorivillage !!! 💙 Learning the Haka was their favorite. I play the song for them to do it at home. Glad I got it on video so they can practice lol Very intriguing and amazing as well. . You can read more about our experience there on my blog!! . Fun Fact: The first explorer to reach New Zealand was Kupe. He left his ancestral home lf Hawaiki. Using the stars and ocean currents as his guide, he traveled across the Pacific on his canoe. . I guess you could say it’s been a journey of self discovery from the beginning.  Finding myself again and again.  Shedding the layers of the girl I think I am and being born again each and every moment and every morning into something new.  Someone once called me a liar because I had changed.  I challenge that ideal.  People do change.🌌 Today I wandered up to Mount Taranaki.  Rich is sacred Maori energy. Tapu.  Something I know too little about but something I intend to learn. ⛰⛰ I had recently been told that my Great-Great Grandmother was Maori.  After some ancestral digging I was sad to discover this was not true.  It saddens me because I was so hopeful that I wasn’t only a decent of colonial pillaging and theft.  I live in a state of continual wonder and amazement at the tribal communities of our planet.  Steeped with tradition and spiritual knowledge. 🏕✨ I sat amongst the trees of Mount Taranaki today holding my Moldavite Crystal in my hand. A natural crystal formed from an ancient Meteorite.  I knew once I purchased this stone that it wouldn’t be mine for long.  I had purchased it for a reason and it longed to be reunited with the land.❇❇ I had intense visions while up on the mountain and as my Maori Mother Guide game in to greet me she surrounded me for the first time with two Pleiadian level goddesses clothed in white robes and I was given a message that it was time to return the stone to the earth and so I found a neighbouring tree and felt called to greet the tree with a traditional Hongi.  Inside the Hongi the breath of life is exchanged otherwise known as the ‘ha’ I exchanged my greeting with the Grandmother tree and placed the crystal at her roots buried underneath the soil.🕊 As I descended the mountain I was greeted with a vision of a great Maori Warrior.  He started to engage is what appeared to be similar to a Haka and I bowed to him as a sign of respect that I did not intend to challenge him for this land. It was a beautiful day on the mountain.  A confirmation that I wish to learn more about my origins. I am breathing in my destiny more and more each day.🐤🐦

Waitangi Day, February 6th 2018. The day I was one of the few “Dutchies” in the Treaty of Waitangi ceremony. Really one of the most rememberable experiences in my life. One week camping with Maori people, hours of practice and paddling and meeting a lot of great people. I even met the Prime Minister of New Zealand en gave her a Hongi (The traditional Māori greeting with the noses touching)! This may be not my prettiest picture, but I’m proud to have this fierce snap to remember these great moments by. #picsoritdidnthappen #meanbro #fierce #maoriculture #hongi #waitangiday2018 #wakacrew #leiden #newzealand ksrvnjord museumvolkenkunde

To train for the big ceremony #waitangiday2018 we paddled in these traditional Waka’s for hours in The Bay of Islands. The paddling was challenging sometimes but it’s the by far the best way to explore this beautiful area. #wakacrew #bayofislands #newzealand #maoriculture #seetheworld #doratheexplorer
