Bright Eyes - I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning . “It feels, at the time of writing, like this is a classic album or at least an album thats importance can't be scotch-missed, because it's saturated with the detritus of the decade. Hyperbole? Maybe. Maybe not. But when you add it all up (plus the fact there's the amazing maple syrup vocals of Emmy-Lou Harris and Azure Ray), put it in a context and begin to believe what this could be a catalyst into building, then the prospect is more exciting than Conor accepting an Elvis style movie contract. Add melodies far beyond his 24years and this is truly special. . So buy this, hear the things you've been half-dreaming and if nothing else, help fill Conor's mouth with bourbon fuel for the next album which should drop in time to soundtrack some realistic political opposition. And anyway, you know you'll only end up buying this in 5/10/20/30 years time... if there is any world left to buy it in.”(Drowned In Sound) . #nowplaying #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyls #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylporn #vinylclub #vinyligclub #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #instavinylclub #instavinylcommunity #records #recordcollection #recordcollector #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #33rpm #lp #vinylrecords #vinylgram #music #conoroberst #brighteyes #imwideawakeitsmorning

Paul Westerberg - Suicaine Gratification . “Paul Westerberg's solo career has found him in something of an impossible situation: If he were to make music that sounds too much like The Replacements, people would accuse him of repeating himself. On the other hand, everyone pretty much expects Westerberg to make music that sounds like The Replacements, and if he showed signs of mellowing into middle age, the wolves would show up at the door anyway. After two solo records that attempted to find a healthy compromise between the two extremes, Westerberg has returned with the cryptically titled Suicaine Gratifaction, an album of heartfelt material that seems to ignore the expectations of both camps. That's not to say you'll mistake it for anything but a Paul Westerberg album. "Looking Out Forever" and "Final Hurrah" both rock, in a mid-tempo kind of way, like Replacements tunes, and the album-opening "It's A Wonderful Lie" has the sort of title that only Westerberg could turn into a decent song. It's this song, with its demo-like qualities and ability to convey smoky back-porch intimacy, that also best indicates what the album is about. Sparsely co-produced by Westerberg and Don Was, much of the record finds Westerberg stripped down, sometimes because of its frequently raw sound and always because of its tone. It's the sound of the singer-songwriter succeeding on his own terms, and reason for anyone who's stopped paying attention to start all over again.”(AVMusic) . #nowplaying #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyls #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylporn #vinylclub #vinyligclub #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #instavinylclub #instavinylcommunity #records #recordcollection #recordcollector #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #33rpm #lp #vinylrecords #vinylgram #music #paulwesterberg #suicainegratifaction #replacements #thereplacements

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II . “Robert Plant, who is rumored to sing some notes on this record that only dogs can hear, demonstrates his heaviness on "The Lemon Song." When he yells "Shake me 'til the juice runs down my leg," you can't help but flash on the fact that the lemon is a cleverly-disguised phallic metaphor. Cunning Rob, sticking all this eroticism in between the lines just like his blues-beltin' ancestors! And then (then) there's "Moby Dick," which will be for John Bonham what "Toad" has been for Baker. John demonstrates on this track that had he half a mind he could shut down Baker even without sticks, as most of his intriguing solo is done with bare hands. . The album ends with a far-out blues number called "Bring It On Home," during which Rob contributes some very convincing moaning and harp-playing, and sings "Wadge da train roll down da track." Who said that white men couldn't sing blues? I mean, like, who?”(Rolling Stone) . #nowplaying #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyls #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylporn #vinylclub #vinyligclub #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #instavinylclub #instavinylcommunity #records #recordcollection #recordcollector #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #33rpm #lp #vinylrecords #vinylgram #music #ledzeppelin #ledzeppelin2

Elliott Smith - Figure 8 (2000, Bong Load Records limited edition pressing) . “For all their harmonic convolutions and tucked-away chorales, the arrangements exude modesty, without the arena-size inflation of Beatle-fan bands like Oasis — without, actually, anything to suggest that Smith wants to grapple with brash, gleaming twenty-first-century pop. Reclusion suits him he compares himself to Son of Sam, hearing his own voices, and he inadvertently proves his detachment by not caring that Spike Lee got to Son of Sam first. . There's another big crescendo in the album's grand finale, "Can't Make a Sound," an anthem of isolation in which Smith wonders, "Why should you want any other when you're a world within a world?" He finds no peace in his solitude, but he's convinced that anything else might be worse.”(Rolling Stone) . #nowplaying #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyls #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylporn #vinylclub #vinyligclub #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #instavinylclub #instavinylcommunity #records #recordcollection #recordcollector #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #33rpm #lp #vinylrecords #vinylgram #music #elliottsmith #figure8 #bongloadrecords

Pearl Jam - Ten . “When their debut came out, Pearl Jam were competing with Nirvana in a grunge popularity contest they were bound to lose. Yet Ten is a near-perfect record: Eddie Vedder's shaky, agonized growl and Mike McCready's wailing guitar solos on "Alive" and "Jeremy" push both songs to the brink and back again.”(Rolling Stone) . #nowplaying #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyls #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylporn #vinylclub #vinyligclub #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #instavinylclub #instavinylcommunity #records #recordcollection #recordcollector #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #33rpm #lp #vinylrecords #vinylgram #music #pearljam #ten #eddievedder

Max Roach - Percussion Bitter Sweet . “Percussion Bitter Sweet, recorded in August, 1961, can be understood on its own, a set of dramatic compositions for jazz ensemble with voice and extra percussionists, inspired by themes of Pan-Africanism and social justice. It can also be understood within a family of other records from around the same time which share some of its sound and valences and musical relationships. . The ballad “Mendacity,” I think, is the record’s greatest achievement. Here are Roach’s baleful ensemble chords, setting the mood. Here is one of his exemplary drum solos, beginning with a short roll and then building it into a battery of alternating, purposeful phrases which use the whole of the kit, allowing for the sound of each drum to be revealed and for silences to hang open. The question-and-answer form of the phrases creates the solo’s design it holds the solo together. Here is the apotheosis of Dolphy, too, his alto-saxophone cries and patterns and pauses, in his best, most relaxed and integrative form. And here is Abbey Lincoln, singing words written by Chips Bayen, in the common meter that would distinguish many of the songs in her future. It is high-minded about American cravenness around politics and race. To call it prescient, in the time of Trump, is to obscure the fact that it might be simply true. . Percussion Bitter Sweet leads you to consider that perhaps Roach couldn’t have made a record less than this in 1961. Certain musicians at certain times are such high-voltage attractors and catalysts, so clear in their sensibilities and so connected to the innovative, argumentative centers of their field, that their best records seem inevitable. They are a result of the person assembling its parts, devising a container, and allowing things to happen.”(Vinyl Me, Please) . #nowplaying #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyls #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #vinylporn #vinylclub #vinyligclub #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #instavinyl #instavinylclub #instavinylcommunity #records #recordcollection #recordcollector #vinyladdict #vinyljunkie #33rpm #lp #vinylrecords #vinylgram #music #maxroach #vmp #vinylmeplease #vmpclassics
