The women in my ward (Relief Society meeting at church) studied this talk from the LDS General Conference today. In the talk there are 5 ways mentioned of how each of us can Turn On Our Light... The first is to be righteous. Being righteous doesn’t mean being perfect or never making mistakes. It means developing an inner connection with God, repenting of our sins and mistakes, and freely helping others. The second is to be articulate. Being articulate means to clearly express how you feel about something and why. Each of us needs to be better at articulating the reasons for our faith. As the Apostle Peter said, “Be not afraid … but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you.” The third is to be different. Innovation and creation are spiritual gifts. When we keep our covenants, it may make us different from others in our culture and society, but it gives us access to inspiration so we can think of different solutions, different approaches, different applications. We aren’t always going to fit in with the world, but being different in positive ways can be a lifeline to others who are struggling. The fourth is to be distinct. Distinct means to be recognizably well defined. And finally, the fifth is to do one through four in happy ways. Being happy doesn’t mean to slap a plastic smile on your face no matter what is going on. But it does mean keeping the laws of God and building and lifting others. When we build, when we lift the burden of others, it blesses our lives in ways our trials cannot take away. I have a quote by President Gordon B. Hinckley placed where I see it every day. He said: “You don’t … build out of pessimism or cynicism. You look with optimism, work with faith, and things happen.” . . . #mormonwomen #turnonyourlight #LIGHTtheWORLD #momlife #imamormon #imtryingtobelikejesus #imachristian #love #lds #thechurchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints

Today at church #LDS I was able to have a wonderful experience. Both of our children now go to their own separate classes, and being the parent I am, I like to check on them and make sure they are okay. I looked in at both of them and was able to see what I considered to be the ministering of angels. I saw both of them taken care of and well loved by those who aren’t getting paid anything to take care of them, and are doing this out of the kindness, goodness, and love that they have in their hearts. This in my book qualifies them as ministering angels. Not pictured is of a man who just spent the last 5 years as our Bishop until last Sunday when he was released from those responsibilities. His first calling after being bishop is to be the chorister for the little children. I had the chance to watch him go in there and spend time with these little children and teach them the eternal principle that they are children of God and that he loves them #iamachildofgod. I know that he spent so much time getting this ready for the little kids, and that he truly is a ministering angel. I am so grateful to belong to a church where I get to witness the ministering of angels all of the time, and to see those around me emulate Jesus Christ and love my children. #mormon #IMAMORMON #thechurchofjesuschristoflaterdaysaints #LDSLIVING #bookofmormon #bom

This is one of those pictures that I took and I knew that technically speaking, it wasn’t a “good” picture. Beautiful model, but it was overexposed, sun glare etc. etc...But I seriously love this picture! I can’t even explain what it is, I just love it. 💕. But... this girl is leaving for an LDS mission this month and so I had to post it! She will be so great in Paris! I’m super stoked to read all her letters home! Good luck CeCe! . . . . . . #ldsmissionary #franceparismission #imamormon #sharegoodness #melindaannphotography

Church doodles part two. You know when you’re liking the way something is turning out, and your child bumps you and your pen slides across your Y? And then you smudge your period? And then you really mess it up by crumpling the paper up while erasing? Yeah. That happened. 🙄🙄🙄 #brushlettered #brushlettering #brushcalligraphy #moderncalligraphy #handlettered #handlettering #typographyinspired #calligraphy #calligraphylove #calligrafriends #lds #ldshymns #mormon #imamormon #calligraphypractice #thedailytype #goodtype #letterer #lettering #utahletterer #utah #utahweddings #utahwedding #utahevents #wedding #weddings #weddingsignage #weddingsuite

“No matter what our circumstances are, it is essential that our preeminent identity is as a child of God.” - Donald L. Hallstrom✨ . Today in Primary, each child talked about what made them unique - eye color, name, favorite food, family, etc. - realizing that they were totally different. When I asked them “Does God love you more because you have blonde hair/brown eyes/like broccoli?” etc, each child was quick to say no. These 5 year olds already knew that God loves us all equally and that no one was better or worse than the other. . It reminded me that so much of our inequality & prejudice in life is learned as we age - sometimes that means we judge others and put them down and other times it means we don’t think WE are good enough and feel broken & lost. But we are wrong! At our very core, we are all children of God. We all came from the same place, the same Heavenly Parents. Our eternal worth is equal & infinite, no matter the differences we see in each other. ❤️

Sometimes your goals become the goals of those you love....because they want to “write just like you” I was going to write a really cute quote about faith for today’s picture prompt, but this picture says it all. My faith in Heavenly Fathers plan that I get to be with these people forever is what gets me through the hard times. {21/365} #dailyphotochallenge #faith #imamormon #forever #practicinghandlettering

✨ Vegetable and Chicken Soup ✨ — adapted from againstallgrain’s “Leftover Roast Chicken Soup with Roasted Vegetables,” and brought to my church congregation’s potluck tonight ( #imamormon, haha!)! I was a bit bummed there weren’t more leftovers for me, but that’s also good I guess. 😉 • Things I switched up: doubled the recipe and made in the crockpot. Didn’t roast any veggies beforehand, and added in the pre-cooked shredded rotisserie chicken in when I added the spinach in an hour before serving. Boiled half the veggies and puréed them with most of the water before adding to the bone broth in the crockpot. Does that all make sense? Haha! I may have kept the crockpot on high too long because the squash was a bit too tender, but it was still delicious! Swipe to see the soup styled in such a fancy potluck fashion. 💁🏼‍♀️😆 #alliecooks2018 ...P.S. First photo by my girl mblovesgw33, and crockpot borrowed from the amazing molly.medrano! Thank you, thank you, sistas! ❤️
