Repost from christaalexandra_ftnutrition Kids are always full of energy so practice and game day nutrition isn't important right?  Think again. ------ Protein supports muscle growth and repairs the muscles after a hard practice or game. ------ Carbs provide energy and also help the athlete to recovery ------ Healthy Fats were not mentioned above and they •dp• have a very important place in a kids diet, however these should be kept at a minimum 1-2 hours pre-workout as to not slow digestion. ------ *A serving of veggies •should• be consumed at each meal, however veggies do not contain enough carbs to fuel an athlete and should not be their entire snack. ------ Electrolytes are important for post-workout but to avoid the extra sugar, stick to a fruit flavored coconut water. If your kid is not a fan, try the lemonade or lime flavors as these tend to disguise it the most. ------ Meal prep tip: Overnight oats are a great way to create a well balanced breakfast on-the-go. - 1/4 cup Fage 2% Greek yogurt - 1/3 cup Fairlife milk - 1/4 cup uncooked gluten free oats - 1/2 tbsp maple syrup - 1 tbsp chia seeds (healthy fat) - 1/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries • Mix well in a jar or travel container and cover with lid. Let it sit overnight in the fridge and they are ready to go the next morning. You can make a weeks worth ahead of time!

My son has been nagging for pancakes for so long, I finally got around to making them! This is a quick and easy recipe from the China Study family cookbook by chefdelsroufe except I add ground flaxseed. The berry sauce is my own simple design. Kirkland three blend berries + a good drizzle of pure maple syrup + 1 tsp vanilla extract + a small pinch of unrefined cane sugar.
