For all my lovely new (and long time!) followers, here’s a peek into why I do what I do and my personal creative journey so far…In my mid 20’s my boyfriend and I, (now hubby), decided to emigrate from England to Australia, with just a few possessions, (10 boxes of my shoes and handbags!) and a whole heap of wild optimism! We spent a few months along the way travelling around South East Asia, then settled in the beautiful Manly beach area of Sydney. Travelling really made me take a look at my life, and I realised that my career in pharmaceutical manufacturing wasn’t satisfying my urges to make a difference and be creative. I didn’t know in which direction I wanted to go. I’ve always loved animals, and had thought about studying veterinary science after high school, but I also felt the desire to create. Fast forward 12 months, I’d moved to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, and had a place on a pre-vet course starting the next year, but I still wasn’t satisfying my urge to create something beautiful! I googled ‘handbag making course Queensland’. The search returned an advert on gumtree for a one on one course, ran by a lady living just 20 minutes away! I called her immediately, it was fate! I started designing and making beautiful leather handbags with abstract images of animals on. It was then I realised that I didn’t want to go back into years of formal education, but I still wanted to pursue my desire to help animals. I had two deaf Dalmatian puppies, and whilst researching about the condition I came across an Australian charity who rescued and rehomed deaf dogs. They were in desperate need of foster carers, so I offered my help. It was then that I realised how I could combine my new business with my desire to help animals. Now a percentage of all of my sales go to help a dog rescue. And that’s it! I’m now married to my love, living in the French Alps with our two Dalmatians, handmaking bespoke leather handbags and shoes from ethically sourced leather, and still donating a percentage to the deaf dog rescue charity. Get in touch if there’s something I can help you with or a design idea you’d love to see come to life! #insta180
