Finally made good on my promise to myself to do yoga 🧘‍♀️ (<- how cute 💕) for active #restday tried out yogabycandace new hip opening practice and it opened them up so good 😊 felt probably even better since there was some soreness from yesterday’s leg day 🏋🏼‍♀️ Since my hair has been going on my nerves for a while now - knotted and just plain uncooperative I decided to chop them off 💇🏼‍♀️ made a compromise to leave them longer to make it look better with my grown out highlights. I think in the spring there will be another cut 😇 thanks to haarscharf_augsburg for the amazing advice. Working out on an empty stomach🏋🏼‍♀️⠀ ⠀ Ideally, I recommend eating some healthy carbs and some protein 2 hours to 30 minutes before your workout to give your body the energy it needs to complete the workout. However, I know a lot of people's stomachs can't handle eating before a workout and they tend to get nauseous during their workout if they eat. ⠀ ⠀ I don't recommend working out on an empty stomach or doing fasted cardio because you can lose lean muscle this way. At bare minimum I recommend drinking BCAA's before or during your morning workout so your body has that protein to feed off of rather than its' own muscle tissue. ⠀ ⠀ I personally am loving the Peach Lemonade BCAAs from IdealFit right now! SWIPE LEFT FOR VIDEO👈🏽👈🏽 Let’s talk proper form 🙆🏼‍♀️ Why is it important? Because if we are not lined up properly then the muscles we are trying to work won’t be able to activate properly. Instead we will be putting stress on the wrong body parts. I think something many people fail to realize is that every single muscle and joint in our bodies are connected, and when one can’t work properly then the rest have to try to over-compensate. Let’s use the TRX rows in the video here as an example- when working your back/lats there are a few compensations you want to look out for 🙅🏼‍♀️ DON’T overarch your lower back- this prevents your lats from fully stretching and contracting, not to mention places the tension of the exercise square on your lower back. 🙅🏼‍♀️DO make sure to keep your chest up and out for most back exercises, as it will allow the back to contract fully & will help maintain a neutral spine. 🌟 Remember that a stable core/spine is a STRONG foundation & will allow you to move and lift heavy weights safely. Don’t try lifting heavy things until your foundation is trained properly!
