Ok so I’ve had a LOT of people ask me about this and frankly it’s a bloody tough time of year to focus on a fat loss journey so here’s my take on Christmas and focusing on fat loss. Don’t bother. Instead focus on maintenance of where you are now or at least damage limitation. The problem is Christmas treats can be very calorific indeed for their tiny size. For instance, one mince pie can set you back 229 calories. No sain person will ever eat one mince pie on its own, so that’s two, minimum plus cream and brandy butter. That could easily go over 500 calories <= that’s a meal in itself. Oh noooooooooo but I like mince pies and all the trimmings! Me too so here’s a really cool practical way to help you limit fat gain this Christmas. But first A REMINDER Fat loss and gain is ALL ABOUT CALORIES Don’t matter what you eat, with the exception of protein (I’ll go into that in a bit) if you splurge on calories from fat and carbs and to an extent from prtein you will put on body fat. But what about protein?? I knew you’d instantly ask about that! Stop looking for the quick win!?? ** Calories matter FULL STOP! ** So with that in mind and with 10 or so days running up to Christmas here’s a cool way of banking your Christmas day meal early. Fat loss is all about running a caloric deficit over a day, week and year right? Right! So let’s do a small calculation that even I can understand. Frustrated that your fat loss is slower than you'd like? . It's frustrating for everyone because it's not how you expect things to go. Your weight doesn't go down in a straight line all the time, and it won't go as fast as you'd like. . Take a look at the chart below because this is what fat loss looks like for most people. Slow at times, fast at times, stagnant at times, and even some weight gains at times. . Here is a weight tracking chart of one of my clients. . She was 176 when we started training together 2.5 years ago. She's down to 124 (the last we checked over a month ago). . For example, if you look closely you'll see between July 2016 and December 2016 she only lost a pound per month. . The key here is obviously adherence to the program long-term and this is how she's done it: . - She's had a flexible approach to her diet that has included her wine and dinners out with friends (she goes out every Saturday and/or Sunday for dinner). . - Controlling things she can (portions etc at home), and relaxing when she's out. . - We've never labeled foods as bad/good or dirty/clean and never used a "cheat" day. . - She's trained three times a week every week at this time (with the exception week or two long summer and holiday vacations, of course.) - I think this is the biggest factor . - She's maintained a flexible training approach and also having plans in place for when she has to miss a training session with me. So her training intensity is lighter on days when energy is low/or she's stressed, and higher on days when she feels 100%. If she's busy, sick, or can't make it to a training session, I have a workout for her she'll do on another day that week. . . . Short version: You need to stick with it for a while to get the results you want. I want you to understand this as we get closer to the new year and as many of us set new years resolution goals. . Have the right mindset, expectation, and plans in place before you start, and you'll crush the heck out your goals. . You know what they say: “It doesn't matter what your pace is. Forward is forward.”

💜 D A T E N I G H T 💜 first time in a while we’ve gone out just the two of us in the evening ❤️ spent it laughing, talking and just being us. Tonight we went to TGI’s and we went ALL out - starters was the famous jack Daniels chicken strips, main was a grilled chicken breast burger with bacon 🥓 cheese 🧀 onions 🌰 and TGI’s mayo 😍 and some fries, and dessert we shared a hot chocolate fudge cake 🍰🍫 I even treated myself to a ‘mud shake’ a combination of vanilla ice cream, Baileys, vodka and chocolate sauce 😍 THE best drink I’ve EVER had!!
