Just an average day for me But if anyone anyone is curious what happened, well basically I had like 10 fucking big ass bubbles on my lung and they keep exploding, they found this out when they did a ct scan. The last time my lung collapsed the hospital Scottish right fucked up and didn't do a ct scan so they didn't realize I had all these blebs (bubbles) which required surgery so they had my sit around and didn't do anything to help me but the blebs popped again and well here I am once again with another collapsed lung. 💥 #knowgains 🏋️ . . Today's Topic . . 💥2 MAJOR REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO STOP DOING KIPPING PULL-UPS💥 . . 💪 FIRST: The kip is NOT MEANT to be an exercise. It’s meant to be used as a SKILL in the SPORT of GYMNASTICS. Kipping is simply a way to use the entire body to generate momentum horizontally which can be harnessed and transferred into a vertical motion. It has NOTHING to do with building the fitness level or athleticism of the athlete. It’s a SKILL that helps conserve energy and set up the elements of a gymnastics routine. So, unless you’re a competitive gymnast you have no reason to be doing kips. . 💀 SECOND: Kipping poses a tremendously high risk of injury, and, for the average person, virtually no reward. Time and time again I've seen clients getting slap tears (Superior Labrum Anterior- Posterior tear.) from doing kipping pull-ups. Here is why: To do a kipping pull-up, the musculature of the shoulder which “packs” the shoulder and centers the head of the Humerus in the joint must relax. Basically this means you’re “hanging off the hard structures” at one point of the kip. The scapula is limiting the extension of the arm (Humerus) at the shoulder and at this point is driving the humerus (upper arm bone) out of the socket. The shoulder joint acts like a suction cup that keeps the head of the humerus in place, at the end range of motion, the head of the humerus is being pulled out of the suction cup because of the horizontal force and the backside pressure the scapula ends up putting on it while kipping. Then forcefully you’re reversing this action. This forward relaxation and powerful reversal is where the tearing occurs as the top of the humerus grinds between the scapula and clavicle.
