The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien: (This one is for you Gideon Pilgrim) Legend, history, and Middle Earth come to together in this epic tale of the first age. Coming long before the saga of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, this book tells the tale of the Silmarilli, three perfect jewels created by one of the most gifted of Elves. The first Dark Lord lusts for the jewels and a long and terrible war is waged over the stones. A dark but strangely elegant tale, one will learn of the fate of these precious gems, Morgoth (Sauron's predecessor), and the 7, the, 3, the 9, and the One Ring. A beautiful myth spun by one of fantasy's fathers, Mr. Tolkien himself. #tolkien #thesimarillion #lotr #bookreview #bookrecommendation #mywindowseatbooks

I ugly-Oprah-cried through this entire book, so much so that I embarrassed myself. Absolutely heart breaking and gut wrenching. Imagine When Breath becomes Air meets All At Sea and you'll have an idea of where this book rates on the emotion scale. Beautiful writing and amazing sentiment. Plan on carrying around a broken heart during and after the reading of this book. #bookstagram #bookreview #book #thebrighthour

The Stowaway Debutant by Rebecca Diem: my first dabble into Steampunk fiction, and I'm not dissatisfied in the slightest! Clara finds herself in an airship with an apple, a dusty ball gown, and several barrels of gun power. Through one of the quickest turn of events I've ever seen, she finds herself talking her way into a pirate airship, or Liberators, if you please. Throwing herself into the life of an airship pilot, she finds her high class wit and charm useful, as well as the ability to keep a cool head. Because with this new life of adventure brings the dangerously handsome Captain Duke. Rebecca Diem is a indie author and publisher, and I wonderful person besides. Actually, she was kind enough to sign my personal copy! She is in my friends list, if you wish to purchase the novel, please visit her page #rebeccadiem #thestowawaydebutant #indieauthor #steampunk #bookreview #bookrecommandation #mywindowseatbooks

In the midst of reading this. I read her first book "Buddhism for Mothers" and found it incredibly helpful in learning to cope and let go of all the stressors related to motherhood. I've been pushing and struggling again these days... just not being present and rushing through the day in frustration to get to just 5 minutes of "me" time. It's been rough, and is like a biofeedback system: the more frustrated and angry I become (even if I think I'm hiding it) the more my son picks up on that energy and becomes clingy and demanding. We get what we need to learn from! So this book provides reminders, it's full of her personal accounts. There is nothing to aspire to and no judgement, just gentle wisdom to help you breathe and centre yourself again. I can't recommend her books highly enough ☺️. . . . . . . #sarahnapthali #buddhism #buddhismformothers #zenlife #byronbay #bookreview #parentingbook

Just finished rereading #DanBrown ‘s #thelostsymbol and let me tell you, I completely forgot the plot for this novel. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because the book is written badly or anything, in fact I felt more suspense in this installment of the #robertlangdonseries than the previous two...and that’s saying something! In this third book, we follow Langdon in his pursuit for the lost word of the Masonic legend in order to save his kidnaped friend from a huge man tattooed with various symbols. With the help of Katherine Solomon, the kidnap man’s sister, Langdon is illuminated to the science of noetics. #bookstagram #books #bookreview #danbrownorigin

Letters From Father Christmas by J. R. R. Tolkien: this is one of those books that make my heart glow a little brighter. It is a collection of letters sent from Father Christmas to Tolkien's children, from his oldest boy to his youngest girl. Sweet pictures accompanied many of the letters, along with the shenanigans of his friend Polar Bear and the Goblin Wars. A lovely quick read for Christmas! #jrrtolkein #lettersfromfatherchristmas #bookreview #bookrecommandation #mywindowseatbooks

The Immortal Heights by Sherry Thomas: Book 3 in the Elemental Trilogy, and it still captures the wonders of magic and bravery layered with a satisfactory romance. And, of course, the cover artists have yet again out done themselves. Fairfax and Titus are on the run. A broken blood circle has left Fairfax weakened, and a mad dash out of the Kalahari leaves them more exposed than ever. Hopping from on place to another, thry manage to hide; but soon, it becomes apparent that hiding is no longer an option. Shaken by prophecies the predict the death of the great elemental mage, Titus is heart broken and grim. But prophecies can be tricky, a warped lens to the future, as you'll see in this amazing finale. #theimmortalheights #sherrythomas #bookreview #bookrecommandation #mywindowseatbooks

The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden by Jonas Jonasson: This was a great book. I liked it a bunch. It was a lively caper, following the South African girl Nombeko. Being where she is and when, not much is expected of her other than to waste her life and die young. But she has grander plans. Nombeko Is thrown into the world of politics and nuclear bombs, and through wit and charm, create a sweet story that all should enjoy. #jonasjonasson #thegirlwhosavedthekingofsweden #bookreview #bookrecommandation #mywindowseatbooks

A little bit of Christmas ❄⛄ A Christmas Carol and other Christmas Stories by Charles Dickens: It has been a long standing tradition in my family to watch A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve, so when I found a copy of it in my favourite book haunt, I snapped it up faster than you can say "Humbug!" Ebenezer Scrooge is a surly old miser with not a pleasure of Christmas to thaw his heart. That is, until he is visited by his old fellow profiteer Jacob Marley, dead these seven years. Showing Scrooge the fate of those who do not serve human kind, Marley promises the visitation of three ghosts. He then fades away, leaving Scrooge terrified. Three ghosts do appear, each leaving his mark on Scrooge's heart until maybe, at last, it has unfrozen. Sweet and short, and for anyone who loves Christmas and Dickens. #mywindowseatbooks #bookreview #bookrecommendation #charlesdickens #achristmascarol
