Interesting and confusing (as in I can’t comprehend such racism) morning spent at the #martinlutherking museum. Lots of what I saw wasn’t fit for social media so here’s a pic of his childhood home instead #Atlanta #America #travel #blackhistory #knowledge

Selma Burke was an American sculptor best known for a bas relief portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt  found on the the dime. She described herself as "a people's sculptor" and created many pieces of public art, often portraits of prominent African-American figures. #brickcentral  #bricknetwork #brickcommunity #minifigures #afol #afolclub #legopictures #minifigphotography #minifigures #minifigs #toyphotography #legoblindbags #legonerd #legotime #legoideas #legofan #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryMonth2018 #BlackHistory

nationalblackguide - RP 17thsoulja5 - #MansaMusa Film May Be in the Works:: " #Blackhistory is under-represented—or even misrepresented—in the media, so it is obvious why a film about Mansa Musa could be influential. Although director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan are considering producing a film about the wealthy African ruler, any particulars about the potential film are uncertain at this time. However, if the film were produced, it would certainly make a great addition to the small collection of films about Africa’s history and help raise awareness of black history in general. #MansaMusa was a very influential African ruler during the fourteenth century. He was emperor of the #MaliEmpire, a land full of gold, which he gave out frivolously during his pilgrimage to #Mecca, causing economic crises to cities not accustomed to such wealth. In 1324, he became the first #Muslim ruler to make the almost four-thousand-mile pilgrimage. During his travels, he met rulers from the Middle East and Europe, putting Mali on European maps. He helped boost Islamic education when he brought back scholars from his pilgrimage he also brought back government bureaucrats and architects. His development of mosques and a major university helped urbanize the city of #Timbuktu, which is still inhabited to this day. He reigned for 25 years, and during that time there were years of peace in Western Africa. #RyanCoogler and #MichaelBJordan want to make influential videos to inform viewers of contributions of the Black community throughout history. The two have been making independent films for the last few years, including Creed. It is likely that the film would somewhat focus on the economies affected by this king’s wealth and generosity. This movie could become an important film in the industry. Black history is majorly under-represented, and a film about one of the richest men in history—an African nikkioh.co #17thsoulja #blackpanther #killmonger . . #NationalBlackGuide #nbgnetwork #blackguideapp #nyc #newyork #philly #la #chi #atl #dfwurbannews #blm #blackentrepreneur #blackgirlsrock #blackgirlmagic #blackhistory #blackexcellence #blackwomen #melanin #bla

Do not forget the difference between Americans and U.S citizens, do not forget that the U.S citizens are Europeans, but the real Americans I mean indigenous( black people, Indians), they own that land, all America, north or south belonged to indigenous peoples, period. #aboriginal, #blackisbeautiful #thetruth #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory

Stand with Lina Iris Viktor! I will always celebrate artistic excellence by Black people, but the appropriation of the work of linairisviktor and the violation of her intellectual property rights by disney and marvelstudios for the video by kendricklamar and sza is blatant and outrageous. It completely undercuts the declared spirit of Lamar’s contribution and of the makers of Black Panther. It is nevertheless in keeping with a disturbing underlying theme in blackpanther. I enjoyed watching the movie from start to finish. I loved the positive portrayal of African culture, the powerful women and the visionary imagination of the design and SFX. I was impressed by the diaspora casting particularly by my Black British brethren Leticia Wright and Daniel Kaluuya, though a little disappointed so few Africans from the continent were cast in lead roles. However, the central thematic thread through the plot of the film is deeply disturbing. The negative treatment of African American revolutionary movements is shocking and typical of Hollywood’s consistent relentless denigration of Black resistance to centuries of oppression. What astonished me was the benign role of the White CIA agent, played very adeptly by Martin Freeman. Anyone with a smattering of knowledge of modern African history will be aware of the destructive influence of the CIA in Africa, responsible for numerous successful and unsuccessful assassination attempts on progressive African leaders. The CIA also covertly sponsor economic hitmen to pressure egalitarian minded African governments to refrain from spreading wealth. Exactly the opposite of what Black Panther portrays. The discrepancy between what Black Panther says it is about and the actual underlying message is so glaring that it must be a deliberate choice on the part of the filmmakers. The movie is brilliantly crafted, but for me it is a Blackwash, a New Black manifesto of how to unify privileged African Americans and wealthy Africans, without any acknowledgement of the true history of struggle on either continent. #linairisviktor #disney #marvel #blackpanther #blackpanthermovie #wakanda #wakandaforever #blackhistory #africanhistory #cia
