Quick but efficient back workout I did yesterday! - •SEATED ROWS 4x12 •SEATED REVERSE FLYES 4X10 •BENT OVER EZ BAR ROWS (you can also a barbell) 4x12 •STRAIGHT-ARM PULLDOWN 4x12 • WIDE GRIP LAT PULLDOWN 4x12 - There a few exercises that I normally do as well That I just didn’t get to yesterday.. will post video later but those are.. • Inverted Rows(pull-ups) (I use smith machine) 4x10 • T Bar Rows or Long Bar Rows (heavy) 4x8-10 • Close Grip Lat pull downs 4x10 - I superset these and like to mix them up! Weightlifting Belts should you use one? There's a lot of confusion over whether weightbelts are harmful or helpful to your progress. Most Powerlifters prefer using a belt for Squats and Deadlifts, where a little extra support can keep the spine from buckling. Consider wearing a belt for power lifting to avoid injury (Lower back). HOW TO GET THE V-TAPER . You guys requested this a while ago when I compared the size of the shoulders against the lats to see which was bigger. You’ll have to look for that post to find out if you don’t know what I’m talking about. . So, you want the “V” eh? . So you need to build muscle and lose fat. The muscles to focus on however, are the shoulders, specifically your side delts and the back muscle the lats. . The side delts or lateral delts are often UNDER developed if you focus only on shoulder pressing movements. . Another thing to consider with the lateral delts is that they respond very well to high reps in my experience. . Then you have the lats which obviously give you the back width. Any vertical pulling exercise is good but the key is to really master proper muscle activation since the back muscles tend to be so difficult to feel for beginners. This is also why I’ve included the straight arm pulldown which is basically a lat isolation exercise, to help you. . Finally, to enhance that V-taper look you want a thin waist which comes with a fat loss phase and obviously eating at a calorie deficit. . Notice I’ve also included 2 examples of exercise to do less of. These exercises work the obliques which when worked with intensity end up adding to the thickness of the waist.
