Today’s #standupandshinechallenge is alllll about self-doubt. I’m the queen of self-doubt. And my anxiety intensified my natural self-doubt. Sometimes in fact, I doubt I can even breathe. • And I’m not kidding. Anxiety can be all consuming just like self-doubt. • However, we have an amazing God who has already named us daughters, worthy, and loved. Our weaknesses are made strong through Him! Amen to that! And we can do ALL THINGS through Him! • So today, I had to write this reminder on my hand. I had to so I would see it every second of the day. To be reminded of my worth & my abilities. • I can achieve my goals. I can get 10,000 steps. I can have a joyful day. I can. I will. • So take that Satan! No self-doubt here today! ❤️

Well, I finally did it. Saturday I got tatted. My tattoo means something very special to me. All my life I’ve struggled with mental illnesses. Some days are better than others. I have generalized anxiety disorder, depression, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts. I get stressed out very easily. I fall into “funks” without realizing it. Through out my life my mental health has taken over from time to time and I typically don’t realize it until weeks or months later. After I get up from being down I realize how thankful I am for my life. I realize how God never gives me too much that I can’t handle. My God is truly amazing. Although, I haven’t always thought that. Most of my life I’ve blamed God for certain situations that happened to me and struggled with having a “backpack Jesus.” Think about your backpack, your backpack is only ever with you when you need it or when you have to have it. That’s kinda how my faith has worked, in my head I’ve only ever had my God there when I wanted or needed him there. In all reality, he’s been there my entire life. Each day my faith gets stronger. This piece is very personal: it represents how I think mental illness is viewed by society but also by individuals suffering from it. In Russian, there is a saying "cockroaches in your head" - a representation of all the individual quirks and condemnation of any mental instability. This way of seeing your mental illness as a "cockroach" leads to all kinds of negative self-image I once met a guy who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and went to a neurological centre in hopes of having a brain tumor instead... The way society condemns mental health issues leads us to thinking we must remove this "cockroach" as soon as possible - but it's quite obvious that you cannot achieve that on your own.
