Taking a look back, when I decided enough is enough. I didn’t make any excuses, never missed a workout, I didn’t listen to the naysayers. I was never going to stop until I achieved my goals. I have yet to achieve them but this is a small goal in the rand scheme of things! You have to remember that not everyone is going to have YOUR best interest in mind. WHY YOU SHOULDN'T SET DEADLINES FOR YOUR GOALS: - Why is it that even the most rational people are impatient as all hell when it comes to fitness? They set arbitrary goals and time limits (16 weeks! 90 Days!), and when they don’t meet them, they quit completely. It’s only worth doing if it can be done as fast as possible, right? (I won’t even go into the already-doomed ‘all or nothing’ mindset) - They may have an IG fitspo or athlete they aspire to, and all along this short time span, they’re doubling back and frantically comparing themselves to this person. People who’ve been active for years if not decades, and yet so many think they can achieve the same results in a few months’ time. - But why the hell are you deserving of an easier time than anyone else?... You’re not. - You wouldn’t pick up a basketball in January thinking you’ll be starting for the Bulls by the next season. You wouldn’t start running and assume you’ll be on the Olympic team the next time around. Of course fitness goals don’t completely compare to sport-specific skills, but you get my point. Physical improvement is not made overnight, and because things like sickness, family obligations, and other life events affecting our time and focus are inevitable, progress is not linear or constant for ANY of us. - If you want to really motivate yourself, compare yourself only to your past self, not another person altogether. If you get caught up in where you aren’t yet, you’re likely to get muddled down in unnecessary frustration and self-doubt. The athletes and models you aspire to look like didn’t just happen upon it after a few months in the gym. These are people who’ve dedicated YEARS of their life to fitness or to their sport. They are disciplined, consistent, and most of all, patient. - Comparison is the thief of joy, and nowhere else is this perhaps more visibly evident than in fat loss and fitness. We look at magazines, at pictures of friends whose physiques we envy, and we even do it in the gym when we should be focused on our own training. Let these people serve as inspiration for what the human body might be capable of, but avoid doing it so much that it hurts rather than helps you.

Calisthenics has been a life changer for me. It has taught me that anything is achievable once you’re willing to WORK! The easy way out never gives you the result you’re looking for. Looking at someone else and downplaying what they’ve done won’t make you any better. You just got to hustle.
